The Club

Club Profile

Founded in 1979 and actively involved in their community, the Kilomaîtres LaSalle are made up of a road running club, a speed walking club and a track & field club for youth and masters. With more than 100 members, the Kilomaîtres LaSalle mainly offer recreational running and speed walking programs to their adult members, and recreational and competitive programs to their track & field athletes.

Since 2000, the Kilomaîtres LaSalle have a Speed Walking club offering training sessions of varying intensity, duration and distances to its members, enabling them to develop good speed walking techniques and improve their cardiovascular and motor skills.

In 2010, the Kilomaîtres LaSalle moved to the Fritz-R.-Prévost track, named after one of the club’s main founders. This track is used by adults for interval training and by the track & field athletes for running, hurdling, jumping and throwing.

Community Mission

The Kilomaîtres LaSalle are committed to the pursuit of the following goals:

  • To maintain, fund, manage and develop a road running club, walking club and track & field club by providing the services of coaches, programs and facilities for those interested in joining and by assisting their members who wish to enter competitions.
  • To organize and hold running, walking and track and field events within their territory.
  • To promote and facilitate the development of running, walking and athletics in their territory, in order to help young people and adults acquire a healthy lifestyle and improve their well-being.
  • To become affiliated with other provincial, national and international organizations and to cooperate in running, walking and track & field events with them; to be represented in the various running and walking competitions in the province and the country.

Ingrid Sandy has been active with the Kilomaîtres LaSalle for over 12 years.

Francisca has been the soul of Kilomaîtres LaSalle for over 20 years.

Richard Proulx

Advisor

Richard Proulx has served for 30 years in various capacities on the Board of Directors of the Kilomaîtres LaSalle, including two years as President, and also as communications and training program director.

During all these years, he was also one of the main organizers of the Course et marche populaires de LaSalle (CMPL) and a member of the Board of Directors of the Endurance Greater Montreal Running Circuit. As a non-elected member, he advises the current Board of Directors of the Kilomaîtres regarding the management and organization of the Course et marche populaires de LaSalle and the activities and services of the road running club.

Richard has lived through all the major stages of the club’s evolution, including the addition of a walking club and of a track and field club to what was originally an adult road running club.

Ingrid Sandy

Advisor, Track and Field

Ingrid Sandy has taken the reins as Head Coach of Kilomaîtres Lasalle’s track & field program since 2018, following over 12 years of membership with the club. Starting with administrative duties and transitioning into coaching over six years ago, she now collaborates closely with committee members to cultivate a vibrant team and athletic program, introducing the community to the joys of track and field.

Ingrid’s journey includes invaluable mentorship from the late former head coach, Mike, and diverse coaching experiences across transition, recreational, and federation groups. Through her guidance, athletes have achieved remarkable success at Provincial and National levels. Upholding the team’s values, she also emphasizes education, aiding numerous athletes in securing scholarships to US universities.

Her commitment to coaching excellence is underscored by certifications in Club Coach Sprint and Hurdles, NACAC Continuing Coaches Education Program, Physical Literacy, Performance Coach Training, and sports education certificate in Sports Medicine. Alongside her coaching team, she continues to foster a supportive environment where athletes can flourish, honoring Mike’s legacy while forging new paths forward.

Ingrid Sandy est très active chez les Kilomaîtres LaSalle depuis plus de 12 ans.

Ayant commencé en tant que mère d’une athlète et puis comme directrice du club d’athlétisme et entraîneure pour les sprints et les haies, elle cumule présentement les fonctions d’entraîneure en chef du club d’athlétisme des Kilomaîtres et de conseillère en athlétisme au sein du Conseil d’administration (CA) du club.

Pendant trois ans, elle avait été membre du CA du club en tant que directrice du club d’athlétisme.

Francisca Russli

Francisca Rüssli has been coaching the Kilomaîtres since 2004 and acts as head coach.

Francisca holds a Bachelor’s degree in Education from the University of Zurich in Switzerland, as well as a diploma in massage therapy (orthotherapist) from the Académie de massage scientifique and a certification as a yoga teacher.

She was a member of the Swiss National Triathlon Team for more than 10 years, Junior European Champion and member of the Swiss National Cycling Team. Francisca has participated in numerous worldwide competitions counting towards the International Triathlon Union (now World Triathlon) World Championship.

As head coach of Kilomaîtres LaSalle, she develops the running and walking programs for the club, prepares and leads the stretching and muscle exercises with coach Karine Champeau, and supervises the road racers. Francisca holds Level I of the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) in Triathlon and Level II in Athletics (Entraîneur de club – Endurance).
